Our founders (Cédric & Denis) have been AI entrepreneurs for 15+ years: In 2008, right after the first iPhone launched, they started a company called Moodstocks, with the goal of bringing search to the real world, using the device camera sensor as an input mechanism. Used by 10k+ developers worldwide, Moodstocks broke even in just a couple of years, while building a breakthrough on-device deep learning stack. Google acquired the company in 2016: it graduated as Google Lens, launched in 2018 and now used by billions on a daily basis. Other Google products are based on the Moodstocks acquisition, like MobileNets, TF Lite, ML Kit.

Cédric and Denis gathered an outstanding founding team to build Finegrain, with unique skills ranging from Machine Learning to Infrastructure and App Development. Interestingly, most Finegrain teammates created companies before - some backed by the best accelerators out there like yCombinator and eFounders.

Finegrain is backed by world class venture capital firms like FirstMark Capital and Alven, as well as successful entrepreneurs like Clément Delangue, co-founder and CEO of Hugging Face who started his journey with ML and Open Source at Moodstocks. We are also privileged to have C-level Google executives as part of our group of Business Angels.
